ELKHART — James A. Sydenstricker, 60, passed away at 12:27 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart.
He was born Oct. 30, 1952, in Greenfield, Ohio, to Lynn and Marjorie (McCoppin) Sydenstricker.
On Aug. 12, 1998, in Sevierville, Tenn., he married Mary E. Cook.
She survives, along with one brother, John (Judy) Sydenstricker of Hillsboro, Ohio; one brother-in-law, Ron Harner of Chandler, Ariz.; one niece, Julie Burnett of Orient, Ohio; and one nephew, Jeff Sydenstricker of Ronoake, Va.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Karol Harner.
James was the owner of Jim’s Auto Repair in Hillsboro and moved to Elkhart in 1998, where he became an independent auto mechanic. In his spare time he enjoyed rebuilding VW’s.
Visitation for James will be for one hour prior to the 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, service at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Presiding will be Pastor Carl Henry from Northside Baptist Church. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Elkhart Hospice House or Riverview Adult Day Care Center.
Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
