Northridge Middle School takes third at Science Olympiad
Seven middle school and 11 high school teams competed in the event held at various locations around the Goshen College campus. The top three teams in each division qualified for state competition.
The teams of students competed in a variety of scienctific challenges that tested their knowledge and skills on an array of topics.
Northridge Middle School’s 78 points were good enough for third out of eight teams in Division B.
Bethany Christian Schools also competed in in Division B, taking seventh place with 202 points.
At the high school level, in Division C, Bethany ended up in eighth place out of 11 teams with a score of 186 points.
A “wild card” tournament is scheduled for March 9 at Ivy Tech Community College in Lafayette. One team from each division that just missed out on qualifying for the state competition will compete to fill any remaining spots in the state event.
The state competition will be held March 16 at Indiana University in Bloomington.
The top teams from the state competition will then go to the national tournament, which will be May 17 and 18 at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.
