ELKHART — Elkhart Country Health Department will offer a 12-hour Mental Health First Aid course from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 19, 21, 26 and 28 at Lincoln Center, 608 Oakland Ave. The training certification course is open to anyone and teaches participants a five-step action plan to assess a situation, select and implement interventions and secure appropriate care for the individual. The program also introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems, builds understanding of their impact and overviews common treatments. Cost is $20.
