ELKHART — More than 500 students from 14 schools and 100 volunteer coaches participated in Five Star Life’s Amazing Race to the Top on Saturday, Feb. 9. The event promotes teamwork and Five Star’s five core values of respect, responsibility, integrity, sacrifice and courage.

Students who participated in the after-school program will compete against other schools as they travel to different locations to complete tasks as quickly as possible.

The event started with the kick-off rally at 8:40 a.m. at Southgate Church in South Bend.

From there, students traveled to several locations, including the East Race, Concord Mall and Island Park. As they traveled to different locations, students also participated in trivia, “Minute to Win it” and group game challenges.

Students have also been collecting food items to donate to the food pantry at Southgate. Last year more than 1,000 items were collected.
