Memorial’s Kendall signs with Univ. of Indianapolis

ELKHART — Tommy Kendall of Memorial has signed to play football for the University of Indianapolis.

When the Crimson Charger offense struggled in 2012, Kendall (6-foot, 170 pounds), became one of the team’s busiest players. Kendall finished with season with 36.7 average in 40 punts for EMHS, with a 59-yarder being his best last fall. He also added three field goals.

Kendall, who was twice named the top special teams player at EMHS, will be joined by Penn recruits Sam Daggy, a defensive lineman, and quarterback Blake Schneider.

In 2011, Kendall was the lone junior on the Indiana Football Coaches Association Junior 5A All-State team.

“It’s a great conference they’re in and he’ll only get better and better,” said Bill Roggeman, Memorial’s head coach. “He’s got a live leg, a great work ethic ... his whole future is in front of him. He has a good skill set.”

Kendall joins the Greyhounds as one of 19 signees for head coach Bob Bartolomeo. Last year, Indianapolis enjoyed one of its best seasons — a 10-3 overall record, the first 10-win season in school history, and an 8-0 record in winnings the Great Lakes Valley Championship.

Indianapolis also qualified for the NCAA Div. II championships for the first time.
