ELKHART — Kenneth Jay “Kenny” Thacker, 22, of Elkhart, passed away at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, in his home.
He was born Feb. 8, 1990, in Elkhart to Kathleen (Wills) Long and Timothy Thacker.
Kenny is survived by his mother, Kathy Long of Logansport; father Tim Thacker of Elkhart; two brothers, Tim and Jon, both of Elkhart; his girlfriend, Maddy Bails of Elkhart; grandparents Kenny (Karen) Thacker of Huntington; and grandparents Paul Voorde and Deb Voorde of Mishawaka. He has many aunts, uncles, and cousins with whom he was very close.
Kenny was preceded in death by his grandmother Joyce Wills; great-grandparents Walter and Mary Rice, Phinis and Mary Thacker and Mable Obenour.
Kenny was known for being kind-hearted and for his smile that would light up a room.
He loved his family and considered many friends as his family as well. He was the best big brother and friend anyone could have. The words “loyalty” and “respect” meant a lot to him. He always tried to live by those words.
He loved staying busy and had a lot of drive. He enjoyed many things, including playing cards, boating, going to the beach, cooking, sports and doing home remodeling. He took great pride in his ability and accomplishments. Kenny worked in the construction field where he was very skilled.
Visitation for Kenny will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home where services will start at 1 p.m. Pastor Richard Conley of First Freewill Baptist Church will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola.
