ELKHART — Concord High School senior Nathaniel Paul Simone has been named a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Competition.

Semifinalists were announced in September, and students needed to submit a detailed scholarship application to be considered for finalists.

Finalists were chosen based on academic records, participation in school and community activities, leadership abilities and honors and awards received.

Winners of the National Merit Scholarship Competition will be announced in March.
