ELKHART — Helen Louise Miller, 84, a lifelong resident of Elkhart, died at 8:10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Emeritus at Arborwood, Granger.
She was born March 10, 1928, in Elkhart to Harvey J. and Bertha (Brubaker) Cook.
In Sept. 1945, she married S. Ray Miller Jr. They later divorced.
Surviving are a daughter, Cynthia (Norman) Miller-Gierkey of Niles, Mich.; grandsons Joshua (Jessica) Haines of Raleigh, N.C. and John (Brooke) Haines of Indianapolis; granddaughter Charity Haines (Garrett Smith) of Chicago; and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her brothers, Willis and Donald Cook, and her sister, Ruth Hunsberger.
Helen was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a 1946 graduate of Jimtown High School. She was a member of Dunlap United Methodist Church, Elkhart General Hospital Auxiliary and Four Arts Club, Elkhart. She was a docent at Ruthmere Museum, Elkhart for years.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, where the service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013. Dale Hunsberger will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
