D’Arcy, bishop emeritus for the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, died Sunday morning after being treated for cancer. He served as bishop of the diocese from May 1, 1985 until Jan. 13, 2010.
A reception of the body and morning prayer will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew Cathedral in South Bend. Visitation will be held throughout the day with rosary beginning at 5 p.m. A mass of transferral with Bishop Kevin Rhoades will begin at 7 p.m.
A second reception of the body and morning prayer will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne, with visitation held throughout the day. Rosary will begin at 5 p.m., and an evening prayer is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne will host the final visitation hours from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A funeral mass will be held at noon at the cathedral with a reception immediately following at the Grand Wayne Convention Center. The rite of committal will be conducted privately with the D’Arcy family in the crypt of the cathedral.
