GOSHEN — The Elkhart County commissioners approved $2 million Monday that would pay for the next phase of the C.R. 17 extension south of Goshen.

Jeff Taylor, county highway manager, said the funding would build a stretch of road between C.R. 38 and C.R. 40. The money would also pay for a storage building at the intersection of C.R. 17 and C.R. 38 to keep maintenance trucks and salt supplies for the road.

The Elkhart County Council will have a final vote Saturday whether to approve the funds for the road project. If granted, the funding would come from the county’s Economic Development Income Tax, or EDIT, account.
