ELKHART — Two men with a shotgun took money and cigarettes from a tobacco shop Saturday night on Old U.S. 20.

According to a press release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a report of a robbery in progress at 7:01 p.m. at Stogie’s Discount Tobacco, 30913 Old U.S. 20, on the city’s west side.

Two white males entered the store with a shotgun and ordered the employee at the cashier to lay on the ground. The suspects took an unspecified amount of cash from the register, several cartons of cigarettes and the cashier’s purse before leaving the store and heading west on Old U.S. 20 in an unknown vehicle.

The suspect holding the weapon was wearing a tan jacket, gloves and had a bandanna covering his face. The second suspect wore a black winter jacket, a black baseball cap and had a black bandanna covering his face.

The investigation into the robbery is ongoing and the Elkhart Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects. Anyone with information on this robbery should call the department at 533-4151.
