Elkhart County is under a lake effect snow advisory until 10 a.m. Friday.

Lake effect snow hitting southwest Michigan and northern Indiana Thursday is expected to intensify, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service reports the snow will continue Thursday afternoon and gradually increase in the late afternoon and evening. Snow is also expected to continue into Friday morning, with moderate accumulations likely for southwest Michigan.

In Elkhart County, most of the snow will hit north of the Indiana Toll Road. Snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are expected by tonight into Friday morning, according to the NWS.

Drivers are asked to use caution when driving, especially on untreated roads. The moderate snowfall will create reduced visibilities mostly along the toll road.
