INDIANAPOLIS — Secretary of State Connie Lawson is warning businesses to ignore a letter that solicits money and appears to come from the business services division in her office.

The letter asks the business to pay a $125 annual fee to cover expenses for record keeping and processing the company’s annual minutes. It includes a “return by” date. The return address given with some of the letters belongs to a box at a UPS Store in Speedway.

Businesses should ignore the letter and not write any checks or send any money to the address.

The latest letters have been turned over to Attorney General Greg Zoeller.

Any business wishing to validate mail from the Office of the Secretary of State may contact the business services division help line at 317-232-6576.
