Pairings for the 38th IHSAA tourney were drawn Sunday evening in Indianapolis. The sectional rounds begin the week of Feb. 4 and the state-wide tournament will conclude with the championships in four classes on Saturday, March 2, at the Hulman Center in Terre Haute. The field includes 399 schools.
Locally, sectionals will be staged at Concord, NorthWood and Penn.
At Concord’s 4A event, Goshen and Central follow the Memorial-Warsaw opener on Tuesday, Feb. 5. Concord and Northridge drew byes to the Feb. 8 semifinal games. Penn will play the winner of South Bend Washington and South Bend Riley in a Feb. 8 semifinal at The Palace.
In 3A at New Prairie, Jimtown opens against Plymouth on Wed., Feb. 6, at 7:30.
NorthWood will stage a six-team 3A tourney at the Panther Pit and the host Panthers will play rival Wawasee in the 6 p.m. opener on Tuesday, Feb. 5. The survivor will take on Fairfield in a 6 p.m. semifinal on Friday, Feb. 8.
Elkhart Christian and Bethany Christian will compete in the 1A Fort Wayne Canterbury Sectional, where the host school is the defending state champions. Bethany plays Howe on Feb. 4 and ECA takes on Lakewood Park on Feb. 5.
