Two local men complete training at Center for Disaster Preparedness in Alabama

ANNISTON, Ala. — Richard Hess Jr. of Middlebury, Ind., and Timothy Miller of Elkhart, Ind., emergency responders on the OH-1 DMAT Federal Disaster Response Team in Toledo, Ohio, recently completed training by the Center for Disaster Preparedness in Anniston.

Hess and Miller were two of 21 members of the team, joined by members of the Elkhart Fire Department, Niles (Mich.) Fire Department and other HAZMAT and disaster responders participated in the training. It focused on HAZMAT and Weapons of Mass Destruction hands-on training, with advanced training in providing pre-hospital decontamination in the event of a mass casualty HAZMAT, WMD or other mass casualty incident.

The CDP is ran by the United States Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency.
