SHIPSHEWANA — The Rev. Emerald Joe Miller, 79, of Shipshewana, died Monday, Jan. 21, at IU Health Goshen Hospital.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving his country in the Korean War.

He was born Sept. 12, 1933, in Allen County, to the late Emerald A. and Edna R. (Voirol) Miller. On April 4, 1958, he married Elvira M. Clifton in Owenton, Ky. She died Dec. 17, 2012.

Surviving are two daughters, Teresa Dershem of Milford and Gloria (Bruce) Miller of Shipshewana; grandchildren Aaron (Meghan) Dershem and Cameron Dershem, both of Indianapolis, Andrea (Derek) Yoder of Middlebury, Stephanie (Ben) Hershberger and Abigail Miller, both of Shipshewana, Sarah (Caleb) Sloan of Fort Wayne and Amanda Miller of Goshen; and siblings Eloise (Orlando) Caravette and Bill (Adel) Miller.

Preceding him in death was a sister, Eldora Ann Hayford.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sidener Cemetery, Shipshewana.

Memorials may be given to Goshen Hospice and Home Health Care.
