ELKHART — Officials have ruled arson in a fire that destroyed a bar in Osolo Township.

The Osolo Township Fire Department was called around 4:50 a.m. Jan. 12 to My Dad’s Place, 51425 S.R. 19, west of Simonton Lake.

The bar was fully involved in flames by the time the firefighters arrived. The fire was under control by 6:30 a.m., as Osolo firefighters were assisted by personnel from the Bristol, Cleveland Township and Porter Township (Mich.) fire departments.

The cause was not established immediately, nor was the origin of the fire. The case was forwarded to the Indiana Fire Marshal’s office and the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

Lt. Travis Adamson, public information officer with the sheriff’s department, confirmed the fire was ruled an arson, but he added that the investigation continues and that no further information is being released.
