Elkhart County renews contract with Humane Society

GOSHEN — Elkhart County will pay $170,000 to the local Humane Society as part of an annual contract to provide animal control and shelter services.

The county will give $110,000 to the Humane Society of Elkhart County by Feb. 15 and pay the remaining $60,000 in three payments on April 1, July 1 and Oct. 1.

The Humane Society is also expected to receive $115,000 from the city of Elkhart, $64,644 from the city of Goshen, $5,400 from the town of Middlebury, $5,000 from the town of Wakarusa and $4,000 from the town of Bristol. The city of Nappanee and town of Millersburg do not provide contributions to the animal shelter.
