GOSHEN — The Elkhart County commissioners will hold a tax certificate sale to auction off 446 pieces of land that have delinquent property taxes adding up to $5.7 million.

Indianapolis-based SRI Inc. will sell the properties online with a 10- to 14-day window for people to bid on the parcels. The minimum bid for the properties will be equal to 10 percent of the back taxes and fees owed on the land. The last time the county commissioners held a certificate sale was in 2010. The commissioners have not set a date for the upcoming auction.

A preliminary sale will be at 10 a.m. March 4 at the Elkhart County Administration Building in Goshen to sell 14 properties in New Paris and Elkhart. Back taxes and penalties owed on the parcels, owned by the Hoskins Manufacturing Company and Orbitron Products Inc., add up to roughly $2.6 million.
