GOSHEN — A Thursday afternoon fire at Gleason Industrial Products’ Madison Street facility will not impact production, said William Malone, the company’s vice president and general manager.

A fire broke out just after noon on Thursday, Jan. 17, when insulation near an oven ignited. Crews from the Goshen Fire Department were on the scene for about two hours and closed Madison and Eighth streets for several hours.

All 23 employees in the building were evacuated and no one was injured.

Malone said firewalls in the building contained the blaze and kept damage to a minimum.

The company has the materials on hand to repair the damage in less than a week, he said.

The part of the production process that requires use of the oven involved in the fire can be relocated to Gleason’s Reynolds Street facility while the damage is repaired.

Repairs will also include steps to prevent future fires, Malone said.

“The insulation is being removed,” he said. “There will be nothing near that oven.”
