Training for local food producers offered in Elkhart County

GOSHEN — The Purdue Extension Office of Elkhart County will be offering Good Agricultural Practices training from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 30 in Ag Hall at the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Jeff Burbrink, Purdue Extension educator, said the program is designed for producers who want to market fresh fruit, animal products and vegetables directly to consumers or to local stores or restaurants. Developing food safety plans, sanitation, traceability and recall are among the topics to be covered.

The cost of the training is $40 per person and $20 for each additional person from the same farm.
