EDWARDSBURG, Mich. — Stanley L. Yoder, 83, of Edwardsburg, passed to his rest Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at his home after a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 13, 1929, in Elkhart, Ind., the son of Edward and Jeanette (Trainor) Yoder. He has lived in the Michiana area all of his life.
Stan recently retired in 2012 as the owner of Stan’s Auto Service in Edwardsburg for the past 32 years. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Edwardsburg and was an avid motor home traveler and camper with his wife. They were members of the Michigan Roving Wolverines and Michigan Knights, two clubs associated with motor home members. He and his wife were in every state in the continental United States.
Stan was married July 30, 1949, in Elkhart, to Mary W. Hapner, and she passed July 26, 2008.
Surviving are their children, Rosemary (Mike) Horne of Frederick, Md., and Richard (Cathie) Yoder of Edwardsburg. There are eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Pam Yoder of Edwardsburg.
Family who have passed, besides his wife, Mary, are his parents; son Edward L. Yoder on Jan. 30, 2010; brother Clarence Yoder; and sister Mary Jane Lee.
Family and friends may gather from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Social Hall, 24832 U.S .12 E., where a prayer service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. The Mass of Resurrection will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at the church, where all may gather for one hour before the Mass. Officiating will be Father David Otto, from Niles, and former pastor of Our Lady of the Lake.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085. Arrangements are by Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg.
