NECC boys: Rivals set for tourney final

It will be backyard rivals Fairfield and Westview in the title game of the Northeast Corner Conference Tournament after both teams posted impressive wins on Friday.

Westview improved to 10-1 on the year and handed West Noble it’s first loss of the season as the Warriors won 59-50. In the other semifinal game, Fairfield’s defense was outstanding once again as the Falcons won 40-29.

Jordyn Bontrager scored 21 points, Nic Raber 16 and Chandler Aspy 11 for the Warriors, who had just six turnovers in the game. Westview led by just four entering the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, Fairfield outscored Angola 15-2 in the fourth quarter of its game to improve to 8-5 on the year.

Joseph Line scored 10 points and Marcus Rodes added nine for the Falcons, who have now won four straight.

Fairfield will travel to Westview tonight, Jan. 12, for the title game. The game follows the West Noble-Angola girls final.
