The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Merit Board approved a new officer at the Board’s monthly meeting, Thursday evening, Jan. 10.

The Board approved the recommendation of Matthew Newman to the role of Merit Officer. Lt. Travis Adamson said the decision took effect immediately, though Newman’s first day will most likely be Monday, Jan. 14.
