IUSB professor named new host of WNITs Politically Speaking
Bennion’s premiere episode airs at 2 p.m. Jan. 13.
Politically Speaking focuses on commentary regarding political and government issues. It has been airing since 1988 and is WNIT’s longest running public affairs show.
Bennion is an associate professor of political science, campus director of the American Democracy Project and advisor for the political science club at IUSB.
She is filling in the vacant position after the program’s former host James Wensits announced his retirement.
The program with have a new look format and new features, including man-on-the-street questions and responses, as well as social media and audience input during the broadcast.
Bennion is also teaching an IUSB class that will have direct access to the program. Students will research and prepare questions for guests, conduct interviews for videotaped show segments and appear on the show.
Bennion has had numerous honors, including being the 2011-2012 Eldon F. Lundquist Fellow. The award is the highest campus honor bestowed upon a meritorious IU South Bend faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in teaching, scholarly achievement, and diversified public service.
