Kelly/NFL fallout begins: One LB recruit reportedly has backed out

SOUTH BEND — Five-star linebacker recruit Alex Anzalone will de-commit from The University of Notre Dame and enroll at Florida., according to a report by Irish Illustrated and other Florida media outlets. Anzalone was scheduled to early enroll to Notre Dame on Saturday. A 6-foot-3, 229-pound inside linebacker from Wysomissing, Pa.

News reports broke nationally on Wednesday night that Fighting Irish coach Brian Kelly had met with the Philadelphia Eagles the day after the BCS Championshp Game loss to Alabama.

Anzalone was rated the No.11 prospect by ESPN’s Top 150 recruiting list.

According to cbssports.com, Anzalone was previously committed to Ohio State after visiting the Buckeyes for their spring game and making his pledge on the trip but later decommitted after learning he came into contact with a convicted sex offender when taking a photo. He also reportedly gave serious conisideration to Penn State.
