ELKHART — A man was taken to the hospital after he lost control of his vehicle and ran into a tree on C.R. 1 just south of C.R. 16 Thursday afternoon.

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, Dustin Taylor, 36, was heading north on C.R. 1 around 3:50 p.m. when he attempted to pass another vehicle. While making the pass, Taylor lost control of his Chevy Trailblazer and hit a tree off the left side of the road in the 56300 block of C.R. 1.

Baugo Township emergency personnel took Taylor to the hospital for a broken wrist and chest pain, but his injuries were not life-threatening.

Taylor was cited for passing in a no passing zone and speeding too fast for weather conditions.
