When: 7:30 p.m. Saturday
Where: Sauder Concert Hall in the Goshen College Music Center.
Tickets: They were $40 to $55, but they’re sold out.
Why? The show is part of the Performing Arts Series, which has been at the college since 1997. A majority of the tickets are sold to people who buy the entire series. Harris is one of the biggest names to appear in the series, which has included more than 100 concerts, and may be the most prominent country/Americana artist in the series history, according to Brian Mast, the music center’s managing director and PAS committee chairman.
Any chance I could still get a ticket? Slim. There’s a long waiting list for any turned in ahead of time. Tickets are sometimes returned the night of the show. The box office opens at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
Why is Harris such a big deal? Her clear voice and eloquent songwriting have been part of country music for four decades. She’s won 12 Grammy awards. Recent reviews indicate she’s still an amazing performer. In August, a Washington Post reviewer wrote, “For a woman whose songs often explore decline and death, the 65-year-old Harris sounded remarkably youthful, her silvery pipes betraying no sign of mileage.”
