ELKHART — The next several days are expected to be mild but mixed with periodic precipitation, so if you want to enjoy the warmer temperatures, you might need to pick your spots.

A brief respite from the chill of winter has been afforded the area, with temperatures expected to reach into the 50s Friday and Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. The warmer weather will run through Saturday afternoon before temperatures drop and the chance of snow returns.

Thursday’s high will be around 40 degrees, but there will also be a 40 percent chance of rain, the weather service says. It is possible that the showers could bring between a half and three quarters of an inch.

Temperatures will be mildest Friday and Saturday, when the high is expected to be 54 both days. Rain will remain a possibility, with the potential for a thunderstorm after 1 a.m. Friday morning, with rain possible through 10 a.m.

Saturday is forecasted to be dry, but the sky will likely be overcast most of the day. The weather service expects rain, or even snow, to fall beginning Saturday night.

Temperatures are expected to have returned to the 30s by Sunday.
