GOSHEN — In the course of eight days, 68,000 pounds of turkey will be cut and canned to help feed hungry people around the world.

Hundreds of volunteers will gather Jan. 11 and 12 and Jan. 14 through 19 at The Depot in Goshen. They will work to prepare turkey for the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) mobile meat canner. With the canning crew, volunteers will fill, seal, wash and label each of the cans.

The sealed cans are distributed around the world to provide much needed nourishment in places such as Haiti, North Korea and Ukraine. Ten percent of the cans will stay in Goshen to be distributed throughout the Great Lakes region.

Donations are welcome to help with the $120,000 used for supplies and equipment. Volunteers can meet at The Depot.

For more information, contact the MCC Great Lakes office at 534-4133 or GreatLakesOffice@mcc.org.
