A Chinese buffet moved and added the word “Supreme” to its name.

Supreme China Buffet opened Dec. 28 after remodeling one of the spots in a strip mall on the southeast side of Goshen. It was down the road in a smaller location. The new location is set back off of U.S. 33 at 2008 Lincolnway East.

The new location is three times bigger, with seating for more than 300, according to manager Zhi Wang.

The new buffet has a bunch of warming tables with more than 200 items ranging from fresh fruit to dishes you find at American Chinese restaurants. In addition, you can combine your own fresh ingredients for cooking on a hibachi grill and sushi is also being made.

The other location was popular and I expect that this one will be too.

Prices are set to be $7 with tax at lunch and $10 at dinner for diners age 10 and older. Children's prices range from a couple bucks for tikes to a bit more for older children. Dinner prices apply all day Sunday.

You can get takeout from the buffet, hibachi bar or sushi bar as well.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday to Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The phone number is 574-533-1498. (Editor's note - The original version of this story had an incorrect phone number.)

• Mark your calendars for South Bend Restaurant Week, which is Jan. 21 to Feb. 3. Mark McDonnell, owner of LaSalle Grill, said 12 restaurants will be part of the second winter event and fourth such event overall in South Bend. Restaurants will offer a three-course meal for $30 or two meals for $30. The goal is to bring people to downtown South Bend to eat at the independent restaurants, he said. More information will be available at eatdrinkdtsb.com.

• b on the River now has winter hours at 333 NIBCO Parkway, Elkhart. New hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Saturday. Private parties are available at the restaurant during other hours.

• Whole Foods Market is gearing up toward opening. A local vendor fair is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 24, at the Courtyard Mishawaka. It's a chance for potential vendors to meet Whole Foods buyers.

• Danny K's Steak House has a sign in front of the former River Inn along S.R. 120 in Bristol, according to several readers, but it's not yet open, according to the Elkhart County Health Department.

• Six restaurants and a club participated in Saturday's chili competition as part of Goshen's Fire & Ice Festival. My favorite was the chili at Maple City Market, though I also was fond of the one at The Electric Brew and was pleasantly surprised by the flavor at the Elks Club. Maple City Market won the people's choice award and won the judge's choice award. I was a judge, along with Michele Scherpenberg, Allan Kauffman and Tara Swartzendruber.
