BRISTOL — The Humane Society of Elkhart County is seeking information on an abandoned dog found near the organization’s facility.

At 3:45 p.m. Friday, Humane Society staff heard a dog crying out, according to information from Anne Reel, executive director of the Elkhart County agency. After searching, staff found a box taped closed at the end of the Humane Society of Elkhart County’s driveway near a snow bank, a dog’s nose poking through a hole in the box.

Staff opened the box to find a Pomeranian dog, glad to be found and taken inside away from the cold, according to Reel.

Handling an animal in that way is a crime, Reel said. Anyone knowing anything about this dog or the circumstances can call the Humane Society at 848-4225.
