ELKHART — The Prairie Street Bridge between Jackson Boulevard and Waterfall Drive will close for construction Monday.
The Elkhart County Highway Department has contracted Northern Indiana Construction to replace the bridge’s beams, widen the sidewalks and add more lighting. The bridge is expected to reopen July 29.
Traffic will be rerouted from Prairie Street to East Jackson Boulevard to Goshen Avenue to Indiana Avenue and back to Prairie Street.
