HERNDON, Va. — Christina Eckenrode and Christopher Hovan were married Aug. 12, 2012, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Herndon by the Rev. Dr. William H. Flammann.

The bride’s parents are Brian and JoAnn Eckenrode of Herndon. The groom’s parents are Michael and Rebecca Hovan of Elkhart, Ind.

Rachel Lichter was maid of honor. Elise Boehm, cousin of the bride, Rachel Stone, Anna Stone and Lindsay Slavick were bridesmaids. Kaitlyn Morelock was flower girl.

Sam Hovan, brother of the groom, was best man. Michael Eckenrode, brother of the bride, Tommy Morelock, Caleb Tipton and Nathan Sullivan were groomsmen.

The reception followed the ceremony at Belmont Country Club in Ashburn. The couple honeymooned in the Virginia wine country.

The couple met at Valparaiso University in October 2008. The groom proposed on Dec. 23, 2011, in Herndon at an ice skating rink, where he arranged for the rink to play their special song and then he dropped to one knee at the center of the rink.
