INDIANAPOLIS — Memorial’s Markese McGuire and NorthWood’s Morgan Olson have been named Indiana Basketball Coaches Association District 1 Players of the Week for Dec. 17-22.

The district includes roughly a third of the state.

McGuire, a senior, scored a career-high 37 points and grabbed five rebounds as the Crimson Chargers won their only game of the week, 63-45 at Hobart.

Olson, a junior, averaged 24.5 points and 12.0 rebounds over a pair of games as the Panthers defeated Fairfield and South Bend Washington. In the latter game, a 70-61 overtime win, Olson carved up Washington to the tune of 30 points and 16 rebounds.

Olson and McGuire join Wawasee’s KiLee Knafel and Marian’s Demetrius Jackson as area players who have earned the award this season.
