NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — Ralph Clyde Garber Jr., 81, of New Port Richey and formerly of Bristol, Ind., passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Madison Pointe Rehabilitation Center of New Port Richey.
Ralph was born Sept. 24, 1931, the son of the late Ralph C. and Kathryne (Buckley) Garber.
On July 2, 1960, in Chicago, he married Mary V. North. She passed away on May 29, 2009.
Ralph proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1954. During his tour, he was wounded in battle and received two purple hearts for his heroics as well as three bronze stars.
He is survived by three children, Gayle (Jerry) Mora of New Port Richey, Kurt (Gloria) Garber of Gurnee, Ill., and Christopher (Judy) Garber of Elkhart, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Ruth Velez of Melrose Park, Ill. and brother Mike Garber of Las Vegas, Nev.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sisters, Mildred Higginbathom and Patricia Loukopoulas; and four brothers, Charles Kelly, Edward Kelly, George Garber and David Garber.
Visitation is from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m.
Burial is in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
