NEW PARIS — Angie Gingerich and Jason South were married Oct. 13, 2012, at DeFries Gardens in New Paris by the bride’s cousin, Rick Kauffman.

The bride’s mother and stepfather are Donna and Dan Cole of Goshen. The bride’s father is the late Marvin Gingerich. The groom’s parents are Marc and Vicci South of Goshen.

The couple was attended by the bride’s children, Monica Gingerich and Joe McKeage of Elkhart and Matt Helmuth of Oregon. The bride wore her maternal grandmother’s wedding gown which was handmade in 1935 for her grandparent’s garden wedding. Her bouquet included pieces of several of her best friend’s wedding bouquets.

A barn reception immediately followed the ceremony at the home of Rick and Laura Kauffman.

The couple honeymooned in Tulum, Mexico. They live in Elkhart.

The couple met and became friends five years ago while on an annual canoe trip to Pine River in Michigan. They began dating after a birthday party at the bride’s lake cottage in 2011 and became engaged on the Pine River trip this summer when a plane flew over the water with a banner asking for the bride’s hand in marriage.
