A Christmas Eve service will take place at 8 p.m. Monday at First Mennonite Church, 203 E. Lawrence St., Middlebury. The service, which includes carols that will be sung by candlelight, scripture readings, classical guitar and recorder music and a children’s story, will conclude with communion. First Presbyterian Church’s Chancel Choir, led by Marcia Yost, will present “Lead Me Back to Bethlehem.” at 10:20 a.m. Sunday. The service will also include the lighting of the Advent wreath and trumpet voluntary by Tom Stout. Services at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. Christmas Eve will highlight the birth of Christ. After a brief message titled “We Wonder,” attendees will sing the traditional “Silent Night” to candlelight. The 9:30 service will include communion and special music by Susan Hepler Yoder.
