Calvary United Methodist upcoming Christmas events: 11 p.m. Monday, Christmas Eve candle-lighting service. Come casual; bring children in pajamas. New Year’s Eve Watch Night communion from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 31. Come and go as you wish. End the year with a few moments to pray and reflect with the Lord. The church is at 2222 W. Indiana Ave.
Christmas Eve service at Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 418 W. Franklin St., will be from 11 p.m. to midnight. This includes a candlelight communion service and special music.
College Mennonite Church, 1900 S. Main St., Goshen, will hold special Christmas services: Christmas Eve Service of Lessons and Carols, 9 p.m. Monday candle-lighting service includes scripture reading, carol singing and musical selections by some of the congregation’s musical ensembles. Christmas worship service, 9:30 a.m. Dec. 30 will include congregational carol singing and a sermon by Phil Waite, pastoral team leader. After the service, all are invited for refreshments in the fellowship hall. There will be no second-hour classes. Dunlap United Methodist Church, 23674 U.S. 33, will have silent communion at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve, with a candlelight service at 10:45 p.m.
A Christmas Eve service will take place at 8 p.m. Monday at First Mennonite Church, 203 E. Lawrence St., Middlebury. The service, which includes carols that will be sung by candlelight, scripture readings, classical guitar and recorder music and a children’s story, will conclude with communion. First Presbyterian Church’s Chancel Choir, led by Marcia Yost, will present “Lead Me Back to Bethlehem.” at 10:20 a.m. Sunday. The service will also include the lighting of the Advent wreath and trumpet voluntary by Tom Stout. Services at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. Christmas Eve will highlight the birth of Christ. After a brief message titled “We Wonder,” attendees will sing the traditional “Silent Night” to candlelight. The 9:30 service will include communion and special music by Susan Hepler Yoder. The church is at 215 E. Lincoln Ave., Goshen.
Goshen Community Chorale will join the Elkhart Symphony for a Holiday Choral Celebration at 8 p.m. today at the Lerner Theatre. Tickets are available at the door, Lerner box office or online at www.thelerner.com.
St. John of the Cross in Bristol celebrates the birth of Jesus with a hymn sing at 10:30 p.m. and a Christmas Eucharist at 11 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
