Conn-Selmer consolidating, adding jobs to Elkhart facility
The Elkhart-based manufacturer of musical instruments, a subsidiary of Steinway Musical Instruments, will invest $2.2 million to move its percussion instrument manufacturing operations to its 90,000 square-foot woodwind instrument facility on Industrial Parkway in Elkhart, the company said.
Conn-Selmer, which currently employs 346 Hoosiers at its four Elkhart facilities and 750 nationwide, plans to begin hiring additional production and manufacturing associates early next year.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Conn-Selmer up to $120,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. These incentives are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives.
The Elkhart City Council also approved additional property tax abatement at the request of the Economic Development Corporation of Elkhart County.
