ELKHART — Mr. Alexander J. “Alex” Nagy, 76, of Elkhart, passed away at 10:31 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at Elkhart General Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born Feb. 14, 1936, in Elkhart to the late Alexander and Pearl (Self) Nagy. He married Janice L. Case on Feb. 11, 1956, in Elkhart.
She survives at home after 56 wonderful years of marriage.
He is also survived by three children, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, as well as his brother, Ron (Judy) Nagy, of Punta Gorda, Fla.
Preceding him in death was a brother, Larry Nagy.
In accordance with Alex’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. followed by a memorial celebration of his life at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart. Burial will then take place in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, with the U.S. Navy Funeral Honor Guard and Elkhart DAV 19 rendering graveside military honors.
Alex was a very talented tool and die maker for several area music companies, including the Selmer Company and Emerson Musical Instruments. If something didn’t exist, he’d make one. He was also the owner of Nagy’s Decorating, an Elkhart-area business which has been in existence for nearly 50 years. He was also a licensed private pilot and enjoyed deer hunting. He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Navy just prior to the Vietnam War.
Alex will be best remembered for being a fun-loving and jovial family man, living life to the fullest.
