RIVERSIDE, Calif. — William Edward “Bill” Leslie, 75, passed away Nov. 18, 2012, in his home in Riverside, holding the hand of his wife, Millie, and surrounded by his family.
He was born Dec. 9, 1937, in Chicago, Ill.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mildred A. Leslie; three children, William Jr. (Jantra), Hayley Calhoun (Jeffrey) and Ben Leslie; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Zachary, Tianna, Jeffrey Jr., Ashley, William III, Joshua and Anthony; great-grandchild Jayla; four siblings, Pat, Brian, Linda and Arlene; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill graduated from Jimtown High School in Elkhart prior to joining the U.S. Air Force. Bill received a Bachelor of Education degree from Colorado State University and a Master of Education degree from Louisiana State University.
Bill retired as a captain from the U.S. Air Force after 29 years of service to our country. He then went on working as an engineer for another 10 years at Northrop-Grumman, where he worked on the development of the B-2 Bomber.
Over the years he enjoyed fixing old tube radios, traveling with his wife and restoring classic cars. Bill was a very meticulous person and believed in doing things the right way.
His friends and family will miss his soft heart; as his grandchildren know, he always said “yes.”
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, in National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Community Valley Homes, Inc., P.O. Box 7307, Moreno Valley, CA 92552, which have provided loving care to Bill’s disabled son, Ben Leslie, for the past 20 years and will continue to care for him and other disabled adults for the years to come.
