ELKHART – City officials celebrated the completion of the Pierre Moran sewer project Friday with a ribbon cutting.

Construction included new sewer and water mains in the residential area southeast of the intersection of West Lusher and Benham Avenues.

The $930,000 project was sought to correct significant drainage problems that have plagued the southside neighborhood for decades, according to Tory Irwin, utility engineer for the city.

Irwin said they believe that when paperwork is finalized, the project will have been finished under budget and on time.

The work was funded with revenues from the Pierre Moran Tax Increment Finance district and the city’s water fund.
