Leslie Schmitz, D.O., and Margaret Quate-Operacz, M.D., opened Kidney Care of Michiana on Monday and will begin seeing patients Dec. 10.

Located at 3665 Park Place West, Suite 300, Kidney Care of Michiana is one of two local practices specializing in kidney health, and provides comprehensive chronic kidney disease management, in-center hemodialysis, home therapies and pre-dialysis monitoring of complications and progression of chronic kidney disease.

Schmitz and Quate-Operacz are board-certified in nephrology and internal medicine and have privileges at Memorial Hospital, Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Elkhart General Hospital and Kindred Hospital.

Schmitz earned her medical degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. She served an osteopathic traditional internship at Midwestern University, followed by an internal medicine residency at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare and a fellowship in nephrology at St. Louis University.

Quate-Operacz earned her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, where she served an internal medicine residency and completed a fellowship in nephrology.
