NEW CASTLE — Concord High School graduate Shawn Kemp is among 18 individuals named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame’s 2013 Silver Anniversary men’s team today, Dec. 3, based on their outstanding accomplishments as senior players 25 years ago.

Kemp of the state runner-up Minutemen, Chandler Thompson of state champion Muncie Central and eventual winner Woody Austin of Richmond engaged in an intensely partisan Mr. Basketball race in 1987-88.

Each is on the Silver team along with the rest of the 12 members of that season’s ballyhooed Indiana All-Star team and six other players.

The Silver selectees include Darrin Archbold (Norwell), Hunter Atkins (Highland), Scott Blum (Oregon-Davis), Paris Bryant (Jeffersonville), Eric Dolezal (LaPorte), Greg Gary (Anderson Highland), Brian Good (Rossville), Brian Hogan (Kokomo), Travis Inman (Avon), Matt Nover (Chesterton), Craig Riley (Harding), David Scott (Graceland Christian), Derwin Webb (Lawrence North), Henry Williams (Indianapolis Ben Davis) and Sean Woods (Indianapolis Cathedral).

Kemp, who lives in Seattle and operates a restaurant there, went on to an All-Star career in the NBA without ever playing collegiately, while Austin starred at Purdue and Thompson at Ball State.

Nover became a popular player at Indiana and played a role in the movie “Blue Chips,” while Woods was in the same Kentucky recruiting class as Kemp.

The Silver players will be honored during the Hall’s annual men’s banquet on March 20, 2013 in Indianapolis. For more information, visit www.hoopshall.com or call 765-529-1891.
