ELKHART — Loah Jean Johnson, 90, of Elkhart, passed away at 5:55 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at Golden Living Center.
She was born Sept. 4, 1922, in Mentone to Russell and Violet (Robbins) Fleck. On Nov. 8, 1941, she married Aubra K. Johnson in Akron. He died Sept. 7, 1989, in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Surviving are three sons, Stephen Johnson of Tempe, Ariz., Russell (Phyllis) Johnson of Elkhart and Alan (Sharon) Johnson of Wasilla, Alaska; two daughters, Lauretta Zandstra of Grand Rapids and Kaye Weber of Wayland, Mich. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Thomas.
Jean graduated in 1940 from Mentone High School. She was a homemaker who enjoyed fishing, bowling, camping, traveling and playing slot machines. She loved animals, especially kittens, and enjoyed winters in Brownsville, Texas, as well as spending time up north in the cabin with her family.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home with a celebration of life service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, also at the funeral home. Pastor Terry Cochran of 3 Cross Ministries will preside. Cremation will take place at Elkhart Cremation Services.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Center for Hospice Care-Elkhart.
