Elkhart police receive reports of counterfeit bills

ELKHART — Police are investigating four cases in the last week involving counterfeit money.

The Elkhart Police Department responded to 429 N. Main St. around 6:10 p.m. Tuesday to a report of someone receiving a $50 counterfeit bill. The bill was seized after a customer obtained the bill from an Elkhart business, according to the police blotter.

Later that day, around 9:22 p.m., police were called to Casey’s General Store at 839 C.R. 16, in reference to a counterfeit bill.

On Wednesday, Goshen Police Department received a report from Interra Credit Union of a $20 counterfeit bill that was turned in to them Monday by a Goshen business.

Goshen Police also received a complaint from an employee at a 7-Eleven at 2220 Elkhart Road, who received three $20 counterfeit bills.
