Dowagiac man hurt in motorcycle crash
ELKHART — A Dowagiac, Mich., man suffered a broken ankle, broken wrist and back injuries when the motorcycle he was driving crashed late Friday on S.R. 120 east of the city.
Ricky Phillips, 32, was taken to Elkhart General Hospital after the crash at 11:59 p.m. Friday, according to a press release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.
Phillips was headed east on S.R. 120 west of C.R. 17 and told officers that the brakes on his 1986 Honda Magnum failed and he lost control. Phillips’ motorcycle went off the south side of the road and hit a guardrail, throwing Phillips from the vehicle, police said. Phillips was not wearing a helmet, according to the police report.
Police said Phillips may face charges resulting from the crash.
