Elkhart man dies after Tuesday night shooting
Durwood Elliott III of Elkhart was pronounced dead at Elkhart General Hospital, according to Lt. Laura Koch of the Elkhart Police Department.
Police were called to the 700 block of West Garfield Avenue around 10 p.m. for a subject needing assistance. When officers arrived, they found Elliott unresponsive. He was taken to Elkhart General Hospital and pronounced dead of an apparent gunshot wound, she said. Detectives are treating the death as suspicious, Koch said.
An autopsy is scheduled for today, Nov. 21.
