Regulations for on-site sewage systems in Indiana to take effect Monday
Posted: 11/18/2012 at 1:15 am
The new regulations require soil analysis for on-site sewage systems to be conducted by Indiana Registry of Soil Scientists employees. Individuals and businesses who make soil boring requests must select an IRSS professional at their expense in order to receive a permit from the local health department.
Soil boring information already on file at the county health department will not be affected by the new regulations and will not require another soil analysis provided no changes are made to the site.
A list of local IRSS workers can be found on the environmental health services counter in the Public Services Building at 4230 Elkhart Road, Goshen, or at www.elkhartcountyhealth.org. The new rules may be accessed at www.onsite.isdh.in.gov or at the Elkhart County Health Department webpage. For more information call 971-4600.
