Opportunities to share expressions of thanks in a community setting have been planned by area ministerial groups.

The Elkhart Area Ministerial Association offers a community Thanksgiving service at 6 p.m. Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church, 831 W. Marion St. This year the service includes giving thanks by Church Community Services, Susanna’s Kitchen, Center for Community Justice and the Elkhart Community Foundation. There will be a time of sharing soup and bread after the worship service.

A Thanksgiving worship celebration is planned for 7 p.m. Sunday at the New Paris Missionary Church, 67651 S.R. 15. Ministers of the Fairfield area churches have arranged for Marc Eckel of Splat Experience to present the message artistically by creating a painting presentation, accompanied by word and music. The Fairfield Chamber Singers and ensembles from area congregations will enrich the celebration with vocal and instrumental music. An offering will be received to help fund Kids 4 Christ (formerly the Fairfield Bible Education Program. There will be a silent auction for the final 8-inch by 8-inch picture created by the Splat Experience. All proceeds from the auction will go toward defraying the costs of this event and to the Fairfield Food Pantry.

The Goshen community Thanksgiving service, sponsored by the Goshen Ministerial Association, will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at First English Lutheran Church, Fifth and Madison streets. Pumpkin pie will be served by the people of First English following the worship service. You are welcome to bring canned goods and/or a monetary offering to help feed the hungry in the community. The church is handicap accessible.
